I ran the free online scan of Panda Software and I got told that a program in my Tools folder called restart.exe is a security risk. I can delete it easily enough, but there are other files that look just like it and wondering if I should delete them too.
Here is a pic of all the files in my Tool Folder
Should I delete all the red chinese lettering files?

I'd run spybot and adaware first, they are both free.
Use those prograns to delete them, It is probably in your reistry also, and will come back if you delete them yourself.

And I also have Norton System Works and ran OBC and it also did not do anything about it. But I have yet to run Norton Anti-Virus. I really do not want to as it takes really long time and hardly deletes anything it finds.
But like I said Panda did say restart is a security risk and than I find these other programs that look just like it and now wondering if I should delete all of them. |

Hard to say whether you can delete them untill you find out what it is.
Avast and AVG do a better job than Norton, I found a lot of viruses that norton didn't when I installed Avast, and they are free. |

Hard to say wheter I can or if I should? It is not a question if I can as I just did it. So, they are gone now and hopefully it did not F up anything besides spyware programs.
And thanks for the tip about switching the virus programs. I will take that into further investigation as in trying them out. |

Is your norton and spybot up to date.
You can delete them. The next question is: was it a file you need to run windows that was changed by the trogan |

I just installed Avast and am about to reboot, but before I installed Avast it came up with a message about if I install it that it might cause problems to my NAV. I am wondering if I need to uninstall NAV? I really do not want to as I would have to uninstall the whole NSW and than reinstall it, but this time unclick the option to install NAV. And that would just be a big hassle and take alot of time.
Also note; that I did not just delete restart, but all the other red chinese lettered files.

I don't know first hand, but I have read here Avast and AVG work with other anti virus programs. Do they come back when you reboot?
If you deleted something you need you will know. If I couldn't get rid of it with the various programs I would have deleted them also, then if that didn't work I would format C: in a heart beat. I can't stand things taking over my computer. Make sure you are backed up though. |
