can anyone tell me what this means
WEB PROXY 8080 OPEN HTTP Web Proxy allows other people to bounce their web browser off of your computer to fake their real IP address to web servers.
Protocol Type Status Additional Information
ICMP 8 OPEN An ICMP ping request is usually used to test Internet access. However, an attacker can use it to determine if your computer is available and what OS you are running. This gives him valuable information when he is determining what type of attack to use against you. |

It sounds like you have to close port 8080, but I wouldn't take my own advice, I have no idea, it is just a guess. |

If you have the MS firewall up and running then you shouldn't be an open proxy. The MS Firewall blocks all incoming requests except for specially allowed ports.
You can check with ports are exempted by doing the following:
1) Open Network Connections
2) Select your connection, right click and choose properties
3) Click the Advanced tab and choose settings
4) Click the Exceptions tab
Write down the list of programs that is listed there, only the ones that are checked. Also if you PM me your IP, I would be happy to give you a 100% answer on whether or not you are an open proxy.
Don't worry about the ICMP ping part. You're probably at "I'm overly paranoid and borderline fool" GRC.

what program is telling you this?
Most the time proxies are posted in public and used for many things, most of which are illegal. Braking the law using your IP address, they love it you hate it.
You don't need to really waste your time downloading a port scanner, you might just end up finding a virus and a program saying it's one.
Click start>run> type in CMD and press enter, in the new screen (comand promt) type in netstat -a
First it will scroll any connections, then at the end of this infomation it will post open ports. Check and see if 8080 is one.
