| Urgent Advice on Transactions Help
There is a person who e-mailed me out of the blue. He said his brother saw one of my posts on a forum saying I wanted to purchase a 7800 GTX. Now he says that he had purchaseed 2 7800 GTX's because he was building two systems, one was for him and one was for his brother but his brother bought an Apple. Now he's selling the parts he was going to use to build his brothers computer. So now he's offering me a BGF 7800 GTX for 390$ but I don't know how make sure I'm making a secure transaction. How can I ensure a safe transaction?

Do you know this guy and/or his brother?
The best way to do it is to use an escrow service such as Escrow.com. In a nutshell, you send the money to the escrow service, they pay the seller only after you get the merchandise and have time to inspect it.
Remember, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. .

Yeah I don't know him or her but he feels the burden of trust should be on me, he insists on doing the Grocery Store thing where its the "in person" transactions. And he wants cash payment without me even knowing what he's sending me. So he'll get the money and I won't be sure if he's gonna send me a box of rocks, and the escrow way he says that the third party holding his money sounds "fishy". He says what if when his item arrives I go and switch it around and break it or swap it with a crappier card and send it back to him broken or with a diffrent card and he wont be payed his money by escrow. Ugh. |

I'd just tell him," Sorry, no deal."

Honestly, I wouldn't go ahead with the transaction myself. It's way too risky.
Going with an escrow would be the safest option if you do go ahead with this. How do you think people sell property and businesses? They go through an escrow. Everything is documented and he will definitely get his money. |

It sounds like neither party is trusting enough to proceed with the transaction. The cash only thing sounds pretty fishy to me. Personally I'd just back away from it. Tell him to sell it on ebay if he wants a good price for it. That kind of stuff if unused generally sells pretty close to retail value. |
