| Holy cow, my Ebay account was hyjacked!! Need knowledge!!
Someone cracked or harvested my Ebay password and listed some stuff I did not list! I caught it early, was able to change my pwd, and alert Ebay staff who removed the listings and fixed everything quite well.
Question of the day: How did this happen?? This is aside from the not too secure password being cracked. Ebay warns of not clicking on an h-link inside an email. How could clicking on a web link give away my password? I don't understand.
My security: I am behind a NAT, have XP firewall on, have SP-3 and all up to date OS, use Firefox and security on high, etc., never open attachments, never download software from unreliable sources, I run Hyjackthis, Adware, etc. often, am careful to watch what starts with the OS. I am crapware free as far as I know.
Suggestions please! |

I don't like to ask this question but I do anyway as it is part of standards: Is your password easy to guess; someone you might know would have easily guessed it if they were just randomly entering in passwords? Did you happen to give your password to anyone? |

Yes, it could have been cracked that way. It was 4 numeric digits, easy. My PayPal and all banking, ISP, etc have highly secure passwords. I never thought much about Ebay, like why would anyone want to gain access? Now I know!
No, no one else had access to my account info and I did not get spoofed into entering info into a fake email... |

Did you ever hint your password towards anyone unintentionally? As in, you got into a conversation about a subject that your password happened to be a part of and you mentioned your favorite object or character that happened to be your password. Something like that ever occur? |

Not really, anyway the hyjacker was from Europe, and I am in the US!
So, the bottom line is someone must have guessed my password it seems? |

I'm assuming you don't know anybody from Europe?
Did your screen name have anything to do with your password? |
