| Can't remove dTdim700.dll . Is it a virus?
I was cleaning out my nephew's computer yesterday, which was full of viruses and adware. I managed to get rid of everything except one dll called dTdim700.dll. Hijack This could not delete it. Somehow it doesn't respond to the "Fix It" button. I'm using the Avast anti-virus and Adaware spyware remover and neither of these programs detect it as malicious. Here's the line in his Hijack This log: Quote: |
O20 - Winlogon Notify: MS-DOS Emulation - C:\WINDOWS\system32\dTdim700.dll
| Hijack this reports this as a likely Trojan. |

Have you tried deleting it manually? |

try running the computer in safemode and deleting it. Some viruses run in safemode but I don't believe that's a virus. It's to common to have spyware that does that. If you can't delete it in safemode you will have to run regedit and remove it from there manually.

Yes I tried deleting it in safe mode. It keeps saying that it is being used by another user or process. |

If you're really determined, take the drive out and slave it in another pc. Then take ownership of the file and delete it. |

Hey guys,
Thanks for the suggestions. It's on my nephew's computer and I won't get another crack at it till this weekend. I'll try those thing you suggested and let you know what works. In the meantime please keep the suggestions rolling in.
Thanks!
