DSL and Stealthed ports

I have DSL and AOL without a router. A GRC scan shows 5 stealthed ports and the rest closed. I used the SP2 firewall and then downloaded the free ZA version. Same results. Is this the most I can hope for without a router? Thanks.

You should be able to have all ports stealthed with just a software firewall.
I have not used Zone Alarm in a while but with Sygate free firewall all my ports are stealthed.
I do not use the windows firewall.

I recently got a new computer so my install of WindowsXP SP2 is new. When I tested my ports they all showed stealthed using just the WindowsXP SP2 security features.

Are you using DSL? I orginally had cable with SP2 and all ports showed stealth but when I went to DSL all but 5 went to closed.

Yes, I have DSL. I'm an old guy and consider myself a competent button pusher but certainly not a geek so I'm assuming the stealthed ports were out of the box. WindowsXP, XP firewall, and AVG virus scanner, are all I use.
