| Avast! conflicts with Zone Alarm
I"ve used Avast! for a while and LOVE it, until I installed Zone Alarm. Apparently, they conflict. After I did Zone Alarm, I restarted, and got a BSOD telling me that there was a severe software conflict causing a "fatal error". I reset the unit, got to my desktop, and I got a message about said conflict. The message was from Zone Alarm and said that I could disable some "transparencies" thing in Avast! to make them work together. However, after disableing said "transparencies", Avast! didn't work as well.
Example: Before this, Avast! would catch viruses and the like WHILE downloading. After, I needed to actually USE the infected app/file for Avast! to detect malware.
Is there any way to get the two to work seamlessly together?
I'm currently using AVG, but I like Avast! much more and I'm not giving up Zone Alarm. |

So I'm not going Sygate, (as I'm anti-Symantec). I'll check out kiero. |

Symantec may own Sygate now. But their firewall (personal/pro) is certainly a 'Sygate' product. The best non-buggy firewall out there.
Kerio is great, but it has only 30-day license, and then some advanced features get turned off.
I'd stay away from the new free version of Zone Alarm also. I tried installing it 2 weeks ago, the install went well; but after reboot, my computer would just shut off before the XP login screen.
