Problem

Hey.

I've been having a problem with my internet connection, I suppose. About, well, it varies...sometimes it's twice in a 15 minute period of time, sometimes once a day...my internet connection (DSL at the moment), stops working for about a 30 second period of time, and then it just starts working again.

If I try to go to a website during that period of time, I get this message:

This started happening about 7 months ago when I reformated my computer.

I contacted the company that makes my computer, and after we went through a few things, they said that there didn't seem to be a problem with my hardware, and said, generally, "wtf." They said to do/it could be one of these three things:

1. Contact my ISP.

2. Contact the company that makes my router.

3. I could have a virus/spyware.

I didn't think that it was my ISP/router because I've had, during this 7 month period of time, dial up connected by two different types of external modems, cable, and DSL...the problem occured with all of them.

I contacted my ISP and they said my connection was perfect. Yeah, bullshit, I know better. I contacted my router and they said, generally, "wtf", and that my router was compatable with my computer, ect, so it should work.

So, I tried to find out if I had a virus/spyware...apparently I had lots. I thought I had it fixed, when I got the "Connection Test Failed" message again.

So, here's my Hijackthis log, and if any of you know how I might be able to fix this, I'd appreciate it. =)

A lot of DSL modems are also routers, so you need to set them up in bridged mode to get them to work nicely with another router.

Also, here is a site that will analyze your hijackthis log file.
http://www.hijackthis.de/index.php?langselect=english

This entry is classified as a trojan:
O4 - Global Startup: winlogin.exe

assuming you dial in with a ppp tunnel...how is it set up? do you have to sign in or is it automatically connected when you start up. If it's automatically connected, do you have windows set up to connect, the router set up to connect, or the modem set up to connect. Whenever I set up an account..i use the modem, but that's a matter of preference....let us know (or if you don't know...lol)

Dunno what the first post was talking about, but regarding my DSL...it's automatic. I turn on my computer, it's on too.

Okay, I couldn't remove winlogin.exe through Hijackthis or close it with Ctrl+Alt+Delete, so I just searched for it on my computer and deleted it that way...

Well you could Reformat...But thats realy annoying. What I would do is save all my importand data to a cd or a zip, then reformat.

Good Luck
