| my computer is freaking out! (aim virus!)
first of all, i understand many people have this problem, and i have approached it in many ways to help it, but am facing nothing but failure.
to start off, im on aim, and my friend IM's me, and gives me this wierd link. i click on it, and download something. i figure it's something from dogpile, like an audio or something like usual, but then nothing happens for like 5 minutes. all of a sudden, i get disappearing im boxes flashing everywhere, and i see the highlighter going down the list of names on my buddy list, IM'ing everyone and then taking me out of my current IM's and making it impossible to do anything. so it's a virus, i know that.
now, i get off of aim, and start running AVG for a virus check. it pulls of some stuff, which i go to those folders and delete. then, it tracks nothing else. i follow up by running spybot, adaware, and hijackthis. with hijack this, i delete the things i think i should and nothing like usual bad crap pops up.
now after wards last night, i sign on to aim and it stops for a while, like 5-10 minutes. all of a sudden, i go on my browser and nothign loads. my pages wont load!
well a simple restart and it was fine today when i woke up. but as soon as i get on aim, no more than 5 minutes later it's doing it again. so i see an icon with Zango on my clock taskbar, and i go to control, remove programs, and get rid of zango. now im on aim, and nothing is happening.
but how can i be sure what it was? maybe it was zango. but someone please tell me how to do a thorough check and what exactly this is. |

I don't use AIM, but it sounds like AIM is hosed over. I'd remove it and then re-install it to see what happens.

it is a nasty virus. dont click things unless you know exactly what they are lol. should be able to google this pretty easy and get it off or call your buddy. on your own though google the mesage that is being sent to your friends or what was in the message you clicked. you should find your solution pretty quick. gl and be more careful from now on |

change your surfing habits first of all....
if you have xp or 2000 download and run antispyware from microsoft... if that dosent catch everything try running spybot and antispyware in safe mode.... otherwise take the hdd out and scan it for spyware in another pc...
or format..... more or less because by the time your done fiddling with removeing spyware you probably couldve backed up the hard disk, formatted and reinstalled everything. |
