scheduling virus scans

Ok so I have always read and heard that you should disable system restore when scanning for viruses. But what if you schedule your scans for automatic scanning? Is this wise or should i just go with manual scanning.

I think you only turn off system restore when you know you have a virus. That way you can completely clean it off.

I think a regular virus scan will let you know that it's there, and if it doesn't clean it the first time around, _then_ you would turn off system restore and get down and dirty with the virus.

Disable system restore when trying to remove a virus.
