New user account I didn't add!

Had an XP mis-start this morning, then on restart, prompted to select user acct which put me on the path of checking things out. Found a new user account named asp.net, with limited permissions. I deleted it, restarted XP, all okay now. Have firewall, run hyjackthis and frequently run about every other crapware scanner on a regular basis, but don't have current vs installed.

Everything running okay for now, but now am cautious... and the question remains, what added that new account?

What do you think?

asp.net is a Microsoft account.

What is this new user account for? What created it?

The aspnet_wp or ASP.NET Machine Account is created when the Microsoft .Net Framework 1.1 is installed onto a Windows XP computer. The user is created to run the asp.net worker process used in Microsoft's Internet Information Services, which allows ASP.net to run on your local web server (This is pretty much its only use, it is not used to run normal .net managed executables). There is not a need to worry about this user's presence; it was not created in malicious way.

ah, okay! I installed .net framework because a program wanted it / needed it. Dunno what the thing is other than that, and have no idea why it needed a user account for win login? Thanks for the help!
