Spyware (spyfalcon with a twist)

Alright so I seem to have spyware. Ive had this before and got rid of it with smitrem. But this time it wont go away. I have checked my processes and its not even in there. I have used several rootkit revealers and dont see it. Every spyware app i run comes up clean. I know its there i can see it in my taskbar. If you click on it, it takes me to spyfalcon.com. Its a red "anti" sign and pops up a message all the time saying you have spyware. No crap eh? It dont seem to do much. I dont get any popups other than that toast thing and being able to see it. What the heck. How do I get rid of this thing.

heres a screenshot. I was going to try windows defender but it says

"The windows installer service could not be accessed. This can occur if you are running Windows in safe mode, or if the Windows installer is not correctly installed. Contact your support personnel for assistance. "

I checked and the windows installer is not started. so I attempted to start it manually and it told me access denied.

I looked at reg scrub and I use a good registry cleaner but it does not remove this spyware so that would not work I dont think.

Ok, it appears you have a variant called Spyware Quake. Take a look here: http://sunbeltblog.blogspot.com/2006...ur-system.html and see if this helps. Otherwise, just do some more searching on "Spyware Quake".

Or this: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic47826.html
