| Any Sygate Experts Out There?
I'm moving this question to this forum after getting disappointing response [img]file:///C:/DOCUME%7E1/A-Scott/LOCALS%7E1/Temp/moz-screenshot.jpg[/img]in the Gen Tech forum:
Sygate keeps alerting me that it is blocking ntoskrnl.exe from accessing the network. I'm thinking it shouldn't be doing that unless I suspect that system file has been maliciously altered. Correct? But I also can't figure out why Sygate is doing that, as I have that application flagged as "Ask" (what action to take). Any pointers?? |

I did a search for that particular problem if it is a problem for you, did it with Google and it seems that there is nothing really wrong with that. If your computer is having any problems related to this particular behavior and you want to get rid of the "Ask" use tools > options and look for the setting that is blocking it.
It is a Windows service and for most of the time blocking it won't do anything wrong to your computer |

That's just it. They only place I can find it is in the applications log - and it's already set to ? (Ask), yet it keeps telling me it's being blocked. I suppose I could try resetting application fingerprints and starting over again, but I was trying to avoid. I just changed it from ? (Ask) to checkmark (Allow), just to see what happens. |

Should work, changing it to Allow probably will solve the problem. It wasn't creating any problems on your computer, sometimes firewalls are a bit touchy.... |

You can not just take an area in you drive and put image tags on it
Go to supload http://www.supload.com/
and click upload.
Then add the ones with the tags to the post. |

I had a similar problem. What worked for me was this.
Double click the Sygate icon in the tray.
Click the "Applications" button when the Sygate window comes up.
Scroll down to "NT Kernel & System"
Click the little box next to "NT Kernel & System" until an "X" appears in the box.
For reference, the symbols that show up in the box are:
"?": Always ask before allowing this app to access the net
"X": Never allow this app to access the net
Check Mark: Always allow this app net access without asking |

Also, I'm unsure why NT Kernel & System accesses the net. Disallowing it hasn't caused any problems in the last four or so months, I still get regular updates, etc.
Try left clicking in the "Running Applications" box that takes up most of the window. Left click and select "Application Details" or "Connection Details" both provide alot of interesting information that the default setting doestn't. |
