Sygate updates?

Is there any updates for Sygate Personal Firewall Version 5.6? This one takes forever to load and so does Avast. Or maybe there is a better firewall program out there than Sygate? Maybe Kerio or Zone Alarm? Recommendations ? Thank you

Sygate was bought out by Norton last year, so no there are no updates for it.

I currently use Sygate, but I'm wondering when I should switch over to another firewall...not sure when Sygate will no longer be effective enough.
[shrug]

I didn't like the old Zone Alarm, but I hear good things about the new version.

I use Sygate also, I used to use Zone Alarm, until the thread about it spying on you.

Did we ever figure out if that was true??

I'm wondering when I should switch as well, and what to switch to. None of the others are recommended as highly as Sygate was (except Zonealarm which IMO has become a bit of bloatware).

BTW, it's probably Avast that's slowing down your system. I'm running AVG with Sygate and things boot up normally.

I wish Symantec hadn't bought Sygate. I wish Symantec would buy out all the crap firewalls out there to get them off the market.

I'll probably go back to Zone Alarm in the near future, I used it for years, and liked it.
