ok so the weirdest thing just happened. I was attempting to put money on a party poker account but my credit card doesnt allow it, so i figure oh well no big deal. well no more than a minute later i got a call from some guy sayin he was from party poker and had noticed that I had attempted to put money on but that my credit card wouldnt allow it and that there was a way to put money on using my credit card still and then asked me for my credit card number. I thought this was pretty creepy so i told him i wasnt interested any longer and hung up the phone. Does anyone know off hand if party poker does this regularly or do u guys think there was some sort of spyware and someone was trying to scam me?

"Creepy" is right. They probably just have account reps that monitor when CC companies disallow the transaction. You already entered your info, so they knew who they were calling.
I would think they would approach it different so it's no so creepy though.

AHEM
I urge you to be careful in ANY dealings with any of the thousands of off-shore Casinos. While most are responsible companies, some will make any excuse possible to not pay out any "winnings" and some are just plain dishonest - with no way for us to tell good from bad. Since neither Canada nor the US are able to regulate these companies, any contended transaction(non-payment of winnings) will probably just be kept by the casino.
I N the USATODAY article: Online poker games deal illegal hands Quote:
Banks also have come under pressure from the Justice Department. Many decline credit card transactions from online casinos. Bank One, which recently merged with JP Morgan Chase, is among them.
"(It's) because of the high likelihood of fraud," says Mary Jane Rogers of Bank One. "Bank One may restrict transactions that appear to be Internet gambling." She adds that the bank can't always tell that a charge is from a casino.
Other payment options also are becoming scarce. PayPal stopped processing payments for gambling in 2002. That left only a few lesser-known escrow agents that work with the casinos.
| Yes I know its for the USA, but the same principals apply. Because of the chance for fraud the CC companies and other financial institutions are stopping any transaction that may facilitate any perceived chance for fraud.
