Tool Generates Fake Searches for Privacy

Quote:
A new tool seeks to make your searches more private by hiding them in plain sight. TrackMeNot periodically sends fake, innocuous queries to search engines, making it harder for someone to glean your actual search habits by reviewing the companies' logs that contain your queries.

That should come in handy for terrorists and pedophiles.

Useless piece of crap. Just one article about how ridiculous it is. There are plenty more if you look around.

Well according to their website, this is not to be used in corporate environments, for which it is useless anyway, but instead to bugger the search engines. The article is misleading this aspect.

When looked at only as a tool for helping to frusturate statistical analysis done by the major search engine companies, then it does its job slightly better As long as you don't care when they inaccurately profile you that is.

Could it do with a better and more thought out wordlist? Of course. Ideally it would have a complete/near complete dictionary and use some AI to construct clever searches.

Personally I don't know who would use it, I really don't give a damn if Google/Yahoo/etc is profiling me. If I cared I would be anonymizing myself, and anyone who does care should be as well.
