Paypal this, paypal that

---Begin rant---

I get them all the time in my email.

"need imformation"

"you account is limited"

etc

You can see all that are intents to commit fraud. Why aren't they put in jails?

---End rant---

Obviously they want to steal your money so why not follow the money and grab the crooks?

\o/ Billy

EDIT: by the way, I don't have paypal.

TECHnically it isnt a crime UNTIL they actually get the password and commit fraud. THEN after they commit the crime, they have to be caught, since MOST of the phishers are in other countries where our laws dont really count, even if we are able to catch these criminals, actually putting them behind bars is iffy.

I hope you(and everyone) is careful with their passwords/private info.

BTW, dont worry, sooner or later they will be useing a firm/company/bank that you DO use instead of just PayPal.

Its the same thing with eBay aswell.

I get email from fake members asking me where their product is. Im just worried about all those people who find computers a new language may fall into this trap, they wouldnt know. My dad comes into mind.

You all can do your part by reporting the emails to the respective companies. Every time I get one of those, I send it to either PayPal or eBay's fraud depatment.

And the amount of banks which upgrade their software, and need you to confirm your details is pathetic. Usually, these phishing scams are riddled with bad spelling and worse grammar, but as J1mmy says, people may still be fooled.

There's really one simple rule, at least for most Canadian banks and FIs - they don't email you asking you to click this link and enter the account # and password, etc, etc...

If there is a link, it's to the SSL encrypted login page. Most don't even do that anymore since SSL links can be duped now (at least when clicking through emails anyway).

I get the PayPal scam letters quite often. I don't seem to get much other than that. I haven't been offered princely sums from someone in Nigeria for ages...
