I am donating my old Emachine computer to a friend, and would like to find out if I use the restore CDs that came with the computer, will it erase all personal data completely, or should I use a wipe program first and then use the restore cds. I have looked through the forums and saw some posts that said there may be hidden partitions on the hard drive to help with the restore. Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance,
Cindy in Orlando

I had deleted all my personal info, like Roboform stuff (credit card #s, passwords, etc) but I know thats not permanently deleted. I just want to be sure, I trust my friend, but if she gave it to someone else down the road, they might not be as trustworthy...lol
Will I still be able to use the restore cd if I wipe the hd completely? I thought I read somewhere there was a hidden partition that made the restore cds usable. |

Go to Jetico.com and download BC Wipe. Install it and it will wipe all the deleted stuff and blank space on the drive. Including slack space in files. This will leave Windows and your programs. You might want to run Crap Cleaner first to remove all your surfing history etc. Just google ccleaner.
