I guess you don't have anything to worry about since you aren't a drug lord. So whether they did or didn't install the software is a mute point.

Consider it them loving you, a lot of people don't have parents that would love them enough to look out for their well being. Even if you aren't doing anything bad on the computer it is the thought that counts.

I guess this is ParentingIMO (parentingInMyOpinion) now. lol

    Lightbulb

No help here either. When you are on your own: paying your own rent, food, electric, water, sewer, natural gas, ISP account, taxes, etc. etc. - come back and we'll talk.

    .bh.

PS: And if anyone else offers help by post or PM, I'll report their post. .bh. - Yeah I'm a Grundy - get over it...

this is most definitely my computer, i built it myself. and i do pay for bills so i dont want to hear that mess, all i want is to keep my privacy from my parents, what every person wants, im assuming you same people wouldnt mind if the government tapped your phones "for your own good" in essence its the same thing, so for someone to say if your not a drug lord you have nothing to worry about is a mute point in itself b/c im sure you didnt want your parents knowing everything about you when you were 18

Well my advice is if you are 18 and pay all your own bills and want privacy from your parents then maybe its time to move out then this would all be a moot point! Until then live with it they have the right to know what their kids are up to no matter how much you disagree!

p.s. why would your parents have access to your computer to begin with

heres an idea, do a reformat, and put a password on it, worries gone.

also, don't be a child with the golden spoon. You can go elsewhere and learn how do what you want other places, and in the long run you will gain more knowedge then just asking people how to do it. "buy a man a fish feed him for a day, teach a man to fish and feed him for life" sorta thing.

If it's your computer and you built it you should be savvy enough to know if there is monitoring software or not, and how to remove it.

    1. Monitoring software/spyware: (unless you are running 9x) you obviously didn't setup the user accounts or system security properly if someone was able to install such software.

    2. Network security/filtering devices: If your parents are using one of these there's not much you can do short of bypassing it - may you get caught if you do.

    3. Third party external monitoring services: a proxy might help but basically nothing you can do really

I'd have given anything to grow up with parents... even only half-way decent ones. I'm a long-time parent now, 29 years experience: If at 16+ years old my son gave me reason to suspect he was dealing drugs I would confront him about it... and if after a long honest heart-to-heart I still believed it was true - I'd throw him and his home-built computer out on the street.

Now so I don't sound like a total self-righteous @$$ here is the solution to scenario #1 above - I will answer it in one word "Linux"

(yeah you can still keep your Windows for games and whatever else)

Isn't it nice to see that some parents still care about what their kids doing?

I didn't have that chance and for awhile my life was a mess. I got thrown out of my home at an early age and had to take care of myself alone. No one was there for me at times when i had problems.

Looking back this is something that i'm really missing.... parents to take care of me so i guess that this is not the worst that a kid can go through when parents wants to know what you do

Now that i'm a grown man i realised that caring for the kids are especially important because the world out there is not so free of temptations and other potential dangerous avenues.

I'll say that if your parents are worrying about what you do with "your" computer you have to realize that for the time that you are going to live in their house just follow the rules, that could be the first lesson in life.

Angry Well NONE of you want to help him?

Personally i had this problem a few years ago on MY LAPTOP because my parents(in debt so living in MY house)DID do this to me & weren't just threatening me.

I removed it by canceling the task trees & running ALL my security programs.
