Reinstalling xp Help!! PLZ!!

Hi guys and or Girls I recently posted a virus spyware problem and i fixed most of it but my computer says run.dll file or something like that could not be found my computer also had this stupid background that said click here for virus scanner! And i know thats fake. My task manager was also disabled. Well my sister boyfriend came over to help mme with a game and he used to work with computers at an old job and he said i should reinstall or whatvere my operating system. So bassically wipe out everything and make it look like i have just bought the comp. I have the cd with me here but i need to know how i do this step by step. THanks ALOT! I need answers asap i wanna get this over with. Thanks

Well.... start by making a backup of all the stuff you would like to keep. Problem is the virus might be lurking somewhere between that, so ya just be careful i guess.

lol oops pressed the wrong button anyway, after that you have to format your hard drive. Or just put the cd into the computer - and shut the computer down.

restart your computer. If it doesn't boot from the cd, enter the BIOS (hold delete key down in start up) and set the pc to boot from cd. Be careful when you are in Bios not to mess up any other settings .

Anyway, when the pc finally boots from the cd Windows will take you through the installing process step by step.

i really suggest you get someone to sit with you if you have never done this before, at least just for the first time
