Even though its already well documented in other threads, Most people use a combo of Spybot and Adaware to weed out spyware
I have also been using SuperAntispyware as well lately as a realtime scanner with excellent results.
And there is NO reason to purchase security software when the majority of it is no better than the available freeware.
Most people are split between AVG and Avast for antivirus...
I use AVG, and have never had any issues
All can be found at filehippo.com

People here are split between Avast! and AVG
I have used both, and really like both. They both protect well and do not cause any system slow down that I can see. I think you will prefer AVG however.
I personally use AVAST!

You shouldn't run two anti-viruses on the same computer. They have a tendency to conflict with each other. |

Another thing. keep Limwire and all the other crap P2P apps in a virtual machine. VMware or virtualbox works. |

You can also run CCleaner every now and again to ensure that all is well... CCleaner.com
