Possible Hotmail Virus...My Dear Friends!

Hi
Can anyone help? Im not sure if this is a virus or not, it seems that something other than me
has sent all my contacts the folowing email:

Hey
How is going now !
I got a good webiste ,that guys sell electronics, the price is cheap and quality is nice .
Go and check it : www.ttlxl.com

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Get Hotmail on your mobile from Vodafone Try it Now!

with the subject title 'My dear Friend......

Then deleted all my contacts?

Anyone got any ideas? ....I have run anti-virus, and ad-aware, and have AVG but they
havent spotted anything. Luckily it seems it wont do it again? and i changed my password
just in case!

Help!
Roland

My dear friends

I have had exactly the same happen so I too am looking for ideas about this. I have run spyware and antivirus scans and found nothing. I am not great at IT but I can't even find a way of reporting it to hotmail. I also can't e mail everyone on my contact list as it has deleted my list. I also changed the password. Joe

The same thing happened to me twice - once several months ago, and again last night. I have no idea what causes it. I am probably going to get rid of my hotmail account.

Hot mail Virus My Dear Friends

I have had exactly the same problem and it has wiped out 100 and more contacts on my email lists and sent out the same message to everyone in my details. Trying to sort it out with my virus protection people this morning. Damn annoying!!!!

Ok, for those still looking for answers on this problem it seems to be a trojan horse that is infecting hotmail accounts and you have to download a spysweeper to get rid of it. It does not give you back your email addresses but at least it gets rid of the source.

Thanks Matron4u, where can I get this spysweeper? - I have McAfee Security Centre installed but it hasn't picked up anything.
