Dell Computer ANTIVIRUS XP 2008 Threat

I need help removing A program that got onto my dell computer.The program is called "Antivirus XP 2008 AGENT". I have know idea how it got on my computer. It keeps poping up saying I have thousands of viruses. I tried going to my control panel to delete it but it wont delete. I used to use McAfee until it expired and then I started using Nod32 and about A few weeks later this Antivirus poped up.Any help would be great. Thanks....

the ativurs 2008 is the same as the IEAV.exe virus so the same info applies from a previous posting I gave instructions:

turn off system restore when you delete the files, viruses will hide there and restoring to an older point is more than likely not going to help. Run all of your scans and remove any bad files in safe mode.
Run hijackthis, paste your log file here HijackThis Logfileauswertung remove anything it says is nasty. For IE AV and AV 2008 specifically try SmitFraudFix its know to fix that particular bug

Other than that as listed above there are manual removal intructions I don't recommend d/l'ing anything from here but you could try this Remove IE Antivirus 3.2 (Removal Instructions) » 411-Spyware.com[
