pc infected-av2009-nasty

this is the second time this month that i'm having bigproblems.
my pc got infected with av2009.
i didn't click anything, just got into this site to get codecs i needed
and within seconds, my pc was in the midle of a spyware scan that i didn't ask for.i stoped it and got out of the internet.
found my desktop all red with an ugly skull in the middle and a mesage saying i have a privacy issue.
most of my icons disapeared aswell as my c: & d:
can't get into task manager either.
first time i ended up formatting c: and fresh install.
i don't want to do that again.
my ESET security doesn't know about all this.
scan results says i'm fully protected and didn't find anything wrong.
please help someone!!! by the way, i'm running xp pro sp3

Can you take the hard drive out of the infected machine and put it into another working computer as a slave? If so I would do that and run a scan with AVG.

Once that's done put the drive back into the computer run ad aware and spybot make sure they are up to date.

After that I have been having good success with removing AV2009 with malware bytes its a free program and usually takes care of that av 2009.

Usually you get this Trojan from clicking on some of them stupid pop ups that say you are infected with all this stuff which you really are not.

So give that a shot and you should be good.

and it does wonders without any other action at all.
