I'm not sure what your experience is with AVG, but in MY experience, the majority of cases where AVG did not catch something, it was usually because an old version was installed, or when it went grey, (To warn you it either needed a manual update or it wasnt active for whatever reason) they ignored it and never upgraded or updated it...
Its certainly not perfect... but I'm pretty tough on it, due to the infected drives I scan and my own habits and use of P2P. |

i know that malwarebytes is great to take out the virus from an infected computer
but i'm trying to find an antivirus that wont let the virus come in and that's what we're
talking about !!
trend micro is a new name for me. i'll try it.
you see, i download the av2009 on pupose to test antiviruses if they stop it or not
and if they dont, i get rid of the virus, lately with malwarebytes.
i'll let you know how "trend micro" handled it.
trend micro internet security is not free!!!

Harder | I've never condemned TM, in fact I'm a strong supporter of housecall. I've always taken then stance of why pay for something when you can get a pretty damn good alternative for free. Quote:

trend micro internet security is not free!!! | I don't think Malwarebytes anti-malware is what you need then. You are talking about anti-virus software that has active protection, scans downloads, emails, attachments ect. To block AV2009 it also needs to stop users from being idiots and allowing any and all active x downloads, or in some cases it hides as an upgrade to flash or some other add-on.
Ironically I was actually trying to find a site the other day that gave the AV2009 pop-up so I could do the same exact thing you are doing. I created a fresh install on a backup drive and initialized it on its own so there was no chance of issues with my reg install. I installed a few programs to try out and went hunting. But I couldn't find any sites that had it. So I got bored and gave up.
PS, no one ever said the trend micro security suite was free, just that there are alternatives (AVG, AVAST ect) that are.

1- For a complete 1-application solution, I recommend A-squared AntiMalware 4.0 (A2AM).
A2AM includes Mamutu (behavior-blocker HIPS), plus Ikarus (AntiVirus engine and signatures), plus Anti-HiJack, plus A-squared (second engine & signatures for anti-trojan, anti-spy, anti-worm, anti-keyloggers, anti-dialers, etc.).
2- A good 2-application option is: {a} Malwarebytes AntiMalware (on-demand version -- it's free), plus {b} Twister AntiVirus (includes antivirus, plus registry protector, plus behavior-blocker HIPS: "Filseclab Dynamic Defense System").
3- Both of the above solutions are "aggressive" -- for high-risk users -- potentially yielding above-average number of False Positives (FPs) during the first couple of full system scans. For fewer FPs, but requiring an additional application to attain protection ~equal to the above two solutions, I recommend...
{a} Avira AntiVir (free AV covering a broad spectrum of malware, but not strong on antispy coverage), plus {b} Malwarebytes AntiMalware (on-demand version -- it's free -- gives excellent coverage of spyware and other malware types), plus {c} Threatfire (free behavior-blocker HIPS).
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~
NOTE 1: To ensure computer stability, it is WISE to never run more than one antivirus in real-time-monitor mode. Also, never run more than one HIPS in real-time-monitor mode. All of the above combinations are almost always stable, given the preceeding caveats.
NOTE 2: It is WISE to always make an image of your system disk (usually c:\) before trying-out ANY major security software. Good imagers include {a} Drive Backup 9.0 Express (free), and {b} Image for Windows (not free).
