the malwarebytes anti malware has a protection option and in order to make this protection module work i need to buy it and register it.
before i do that i'd like to know if this protection is good as a standalone
protection? or do i need another antivirus aswell.
if i do need another antivirus, does eset smart security get along with the malwarebytes in the background?
thank you in advance for any apply!! |

Anti malware and antivirus are two different things.
Posting links to the software would be a good idea. |

I've never been big on paying for apps you can find free alternatives for. Adaware and Spybot S&D have always worked fine for me, as does good browsing habits.

The Free version of AVG does a VERY complete job of antivirus, and protects you from some malware...
I usually add 2-3 other cleanup programs like the afforementions spybot and adaware to find what it doesnt catch...
DONT pay for software that may not exist in a year, or end up giving lousy support...
stick with the free stuff and you can always rotate what works for you Filehippo is a good onestop shopping spot for safe , free software... |

The other 2 of 5 are a mixture of none, Norton, McAfee, Kapersky's, etc.
While I'm on the AV soapbox . . .
Can anyone tell me why all of you condemn Trend Micro . . . but when someone is infected, the first thing you recommend is HouseCall???

i had avg going for a few months and it's a little bit too histerical
it detects viruses on software that is completly clean
and when a real infected stuff comes in it's not that histerical
i've been trying all the antiviruses for the last 2 years :avg, avast,pc tools, eset, kaspersky, norton, etc
still have'nt found the perfect one. |

Personally, I run Trend Micro Internet Security Suite at home and my 2 teenagers give it a work out. So far, no virus' in the last 2 years.

I use malwarebytes all the time on customers infected computers. I have not payed for malwarebytes. I only use the free version to run a scan to let it pick up what the anti virus, spybot and adware leave behind. Once I am done I just remove it. |
