Norton Internet Security 2009

We are a small business, running 4 PCs, 2 laptops and a Server. I was going to purchase Norton Internet Security 2009 (3 packs each containing 3 licenses) to install on our Server and each PC/laptop but have been told by our IT consultant that we should not install this software on our Server under any circumstances and he is trying to sell me Trend CMS with 10 "seats" instead (at a substantially greater cost).

I tried calling Norton twice, but the wait time is 30 minutes.! Can anyone give me some advice as to why I shouldn't install this software on our Server and if we really do have to go for a more expensive internet security software? Thanks.

Are you planning on adding more machine to the network anytime soon? Does the Norton solution allow for network updates? What about the Trend solution? I would ask your IT guy exactly why he wants to go with Trend. What do you have in place right now?

Thanks for replying. No we aren't adding any more to the network for the forseeable future. The Norton software does allow for updates (although users have to do this individually on their own PC or laptop). At the moment we don't actually have any Antivirus software on our Server. Each staff member has either CA Internet Security or Norton installed individually. Our IT guy just says the Trend Micro Security software is the best and is safest for a business. He insists the Norton we are looking at buying is good enough only for home use.
