2 Anti Virus Programs

I already have Avast installed and running, but i wanted another Anti Virus to use every now and again to make sure that Avast was getting everything/anything.

Downloaded AVG, opened it up and i seem to have installed that aswell. Both seem to be working o.k. I turned off the daily scan on AVG, but kept the updates button on.

Question is will these two work in harmony together, or will i have to get rid of AVG?

All i want is a "back-up" anti virus scan

I would get rid of the AVG and just use the Avast for anti-virus. You'll also want something like Malwarebytes and Spybot S&D to help keep the crapware under control. I only use one anti-virus, but use at least two adware programs.

Have taken AVG off. Will stick to the one and spybot.

You can install any anti spyware or malware software but other antivirus software no way....
You should n't install other anti virus software.

i have malware byte as anti malware, still see some infection in my lap.
can you suggest some more strong anti malware with links to dwnld if possible.
