    Search results being re-directed, Virus ?

     
    hey hope someone can help me. am just trying to finish up cleaning a machine thats running xp. it recently had the koobface worm and i think i got everything removed however i still cannot run windows update i get Error number: 0x80072EE7 when trying to run update. i also notice that my search results are being redirected, any searches or websites that have anything to do with virus removals are being redirected. can anyone give me some suggestions on how to fix this.

    Try to start in Safe Mode with Networking (F8). See if you can the download Malwarebytes. Install it & run it in Safe Mode, reboot to normal mode, update Malwarebytes and run it again. I've had good luck with it.

    thanks i got it resolved. in any case i had already used Mbam, SAS, Kaspersky online scanner, DR-Web, and finally Combofix. computer is fixed and all clean, thanks for the response.
