Block Internet for Windows Xp
Sirs,
I have a small problem for which I need your Expertise. I just installed
Windows XP and installed the Applications. However, I need to give this
Computer access for Internet only for Email ( Ie : Outlook Express or
Incredible Mail ) and block all other internet activities.
Hence. Could anyone enlight me how to Block all the Sites Incl Internet
Explorer ??? and only grant access for Email to the Internet.
However, kindly note that this machine has Windows Xp Sp2 installed.
Thanks & Regards

Any firewall program, such as Zone Alarm, can be configured to block access for all uses other than mail.

I'm not familiar with Kaspersky. Is that program able to prohibit specific applications from accessing the internet? If so, the same goal is easily accomplished.

What about setting the rule up in the router, setting the specified machine to get a DHCP reservation (so that it only affects that computer) and set up a rule in the router's firewall that blocks that machine all outbound traffic except for port :25 for e-mail...?
Simple.I've seen the light... It was green, flashy and attached to a Network Interface Card...Whenever someone says "You can't miss it", I invariably do...

KIS10 (Kaspersky Internet Security 2010) is a suite. It INCLUDES a 2-way firewall (protecting inbound & outbound).
Zone Alarm firewall - or ANY other firewall - will conflict with the KIS10 firewall.
You need to configure the KIS10 firewall so as to limit all outbound connections except for the one(s) you wish to allow. Your BEST source for learning how to do this is the Kaspersky forum, whereat you can readily get KIS10-specific guidance.

Heck I just browsed through the manual and found the info, read page 91 for setting up firewall settings and application control
http://downloads.kaspersky-labs.com/...kis2010_en.pdf
according to that you've also got parental control settings that can limit sites and/or allow time restrictions - see page 121
