New Ransomware 'Seftad' Attacks MBR Demands $100 For Fix
Be on the look-out for this new nasty little bugger as it looks like it might be the next big PITA we'll have to deal with
Researchers have discovered another piece of malware that overwrites the master boot record on infected machines and demands a payment of $100 to reverse the damage.Full article New Seflad Ransomware Attacks Master Boot Record | threatpost"If the victim browses the malware author’s website, he is asked to pay $100 using ‘Paysafecard’ or ‘Ukash’. If you are infected by this malware do not visit the website. Use the password ‘aaaaaaciip’ (without quotes) to restore the original MBR. If the password doesn’t work, you can cure your MBR with Kaspersky Rescue Disk 10," Kaspersky Lab malware analyst Dennis Maslennikov said.
edit had to update the dang name to the correct title, its Seftad with a T not Seflad with and L or better yet Trojan-Ransom.Win32.SeftadLast edited by RicheemxX; November 30th, 2010 at 08:33 PM.
