    Exclamation Online firewall scanners

Are there any good online firewall scanners besides the one from GRC? I found this one:PC Flank: Make sure you're protected on all sides.

When I saw your thread title the first site that came to mind was GRC Shields Up. It's an oldie but a goodie.

PC Pitstop used to have a decent online scanner, but the site has completely changed since my last visit & that scanner is gone.

I dont bother with the online websites and I do not like the GRC shields site. Nice amount of ads on that one, the scanner was delayed trying to load a google ad

    Great little free tool!

That's odd, I don't see any ads on the Shields Up page. I don't run an ad blocker, btw.

I'm glad you mentioned Nmap because I did run that. Now what I found was my ports; 53,443 and 80 were open, but GRC says they are stealthed. Could that have something to do with running Nmap on my own network and should I run Nmap on a different IP address?

What I did now was take those ports; 53,80 and 443 and port forwarded them to an IP address that is blocked in the router. Look at picture. When I did this and ran Nmap again Nmap showed that the ports were now filtered.

    Thanks for the help.

I don't see ads either, though I do run adblock in Firefox.

Well I tried an external IP address at my bros house and Namp could not find anything, which is great news. So I don't have to port forward any of those ports to a block local IP address.

That's just dns, https and http so forwarding those ports to some random ip is not necessary

Yeah, I tried the Nmap scanner from my brothers IP address and the scanner could not find one port open. So the ports that did show up as open were due to me scanning my network locally I guess.

Correct if you want to see what is open from your network you should scan from the outside

Starting Nmap 4.75 ( Nmap - Free Security Scanner For Network Exploration & Security Audits. ) at 2011-06-17 01:22 Central Europe Daylight Time
Note: Host seems down. If it is really up, but blocking our ping probes, try -PN
Nmap done: 1 IP address (0 hosts up) scanned in 2.10 seconds
So this means I'm relatively secure?
