Honestly, I don't see this working out for the best, despite their supposed intentions.
So sites are unsecure, it doesn't mean they have the Right, Obligation or Privilege to go and break in, access, steal, deface and whatever else just to prove their points.
Though this is international, being on the web, though lately it seems to be mostly US and UK/EU sites, but its along the same lines as someone having a new Home Security system installed in their house, or property, and some know it all douche bag coming along and finding a weak spot in the system, exploiting it, getting into the house, steal a bunch of stuff, and then show it off to the owners and the neighbors to simply prove that the house wasn't that secure.
Regardless of their supposed intentions, with out consent from the House/Sites owners, it was still breaking and entering, and Illegal.
Personally I hope they find these sh*t heads, and lock them up for a long time, if not forever (not likely I know), hell I wouldn't even shed a tear if they were hunted down and taken out like Bin Laden.
If they were to use their "talents" for good and actually help sites/companies better secure their sites/databases, etc, rather than Commit these malicious acts, flaunt it and brag about it, then wouldn't be so bad. But all there is to these idiots is Bragging rights, so far I've read nothing about them actually helping anyone after the damage they caused. Its like people writing into a editorial section of the paper, or people preaching sh*t, but never practicing what they're preaching, or actually DOING something about it, rather than claim they could do better or whatever.
Basically from what I've been reading, besides the actual acts of Hacking, they have done little to nothing to back up their claims, or supposed Awareness their trying to raise.
either that or someones been watching "Hackers" a bit too much. (hackers unite references)

I'm just tired of reading about this rash of website and database hackings going on.
I for one, don't want any of my personal banking or financial or whatever info being subjected to these idiots actions.
with their actions against sites and companies for various Computer Games, and what not services, thats just lame right there, ruining the fun and what not in life for Millions, why? Because their bored.

I guess the point they are trying to make is you are the one who is trusting your financial dealings/money with those companies that do not have good security practices in place. I do not agree with what they are doing but with the recent break ins showing that people are using the same password for multiple sites is a huge issue. I will admit I was guilty of it and it made me go back and change all of them so they are different. As far as I know they havent released any financial data only username and passwords. And you have to give it to them, they release a document that had 62,000 usernames and passwords. They could have used it for their own pleasures but pasted it on the internet which gave users a chance to change their information.
I dont appreciate them bringing down game servers, but its not the end of the world to people's daily lives. More of an annoyance. Its gonna be an interested few months, especially with them targeting (DDos) the main website for the CIA a few days ago.

LulzSec is denying he was with them, something to do with he was with Anonymous, then acted/hacked some of their leaders, and what not, and then they released his name and info on the web...
But LulzSec was saying something that, the only relations he has with them, is that they used one of the chat rooms or something that this kid hosted, thats the extent of his relations to them. Basically stating they got the wrong guy.i7 940//Corsair H60//EVGA X58 SLI LE//6GB Corsair Vengeance 1600MHz//2x EVGA GTX 560 Ti FPB SLI//NZXT Hale82 850W//CM 690 II Advanced//Win7 64//WD 74GB V-raptor, 750GB Black, 1.5TB Green

What Goes Around, Comes Around. If what is reported is true, that they're coming under attack from other Hacker groups, then I applaud those groups (Still don't condone any sort of hacking or cyber terrrorism/Vandalism, including DDoS attacks, unless its an "innocent" practical joke on a friend).

you should go through the releases before you say that, so far there was nothing to compromise anything. To be honest it's better that they show us how stupid some law enforcement officers are using passwords like 12345 and using the all over the web. AND if you would see the information leaked you would see as well that some of it is actually praises the work they do (the police officers) and of course showing the true danger they face every day. you should really take a look at the leaked data.

regardless of the data leaked, its STOLEN DATA, no matter what.
They have Defaced Websites, Vandalism (last I Checked thats against the law), they have Stolen Data From Sites, whether they used Scripts to bring the servers down and access or they used "True" Hacking, its still Data they have stolen and released on the web, last I checked Stealing property or data that is not yours with out permission is Illegal.
So regardless of whether how harmful or not the Data leaked, they have broken laws, INTENTIONALLY.
I agree with Epi, Catch them and Kill them, or since they like "hacking" so much, take a queue from Muslim/Islamic Law/Punsihments and HACK their hands off...
If you leave your House Door unlocked at night, does that give your neighbors or some Passerby the right to go into your house with out asking and take personal information, pictures or other info and then spread it around the neighborhood for all to see? No. The same applies in these situations.
with the DDoS attacks they've been doing, its the equivalent of cutting the power to a house to disable its Security System, then enter the house freely and steal data.
And lets not forget the Threats they've openly made (even so far as to back them up with actions), I'm pretty sure that would land in the Cyber Terrorism Definition pretty easily.i7 940//Corsair H60//EVGA X58 SLI LE//6GB Corsair Vengeance 1600MHz//2x EVGA GTX 560 Ti FPB SLI//NZXT Hale82 850W//CM 690 II Advanced//Win7 64//WD 74GB V-raptor, 750GB Black, 1.5TB Green

June 24th, 2011, 03:51 PM #18http://lulzsecurity.com/releases/fuc...0STATEMENT.txtAfter doing so, we contacted Karim and told him what we did. After a few discussions, he offered to
pay us to eliminate his competitors through illegal hacking means in return for our silence. Karim,
a member of an FBI-related website, was willing to give us money and inside info in order to destroy
his opponents in the whitehat world. We even discussed plans for him to give us insider botnet information.
sure they are committing a crime but to be honest they could do worse and so far they only used SQL injects and probably some encrypting of hash functions which every computer science master degree student could do. I'd be scared of those not publishing what they're doing than this hacker group.

whether they could be doing worse things or not is besides the point.
Put it this way, a group of people could be Vandalizing and breaking in and stealing stuff to a legal abortion clinic, after its closed for the day.
Or they could be Bombing or Firebombing it during business hours potentially harming or killing people.
Yes, one scenario is worse than the other, but both are Equally wrong and illegal. It doesn't matter the tactics, its still illegal.i7 940//Corsair H60//EVGA X58 SLI LE//6GB Corsair Vengeance 1600MHz//2x EVGA GTX 560 Ti FPB SLI//NZXT Hale82 850W//CM 690 II Advanced//Win7 64//WD 74GB V-raptor, 750GB Black, 1.5TB Green

It's probably highly rated because of the level of violence. The story is decent.
