FireFox Must Haves?
I'm reformatting a WinXP Home PC for a family with teens who have questionable surfing habits. I know Firefox can help vs IE8, but I don't use it myself. What are the must have security add-ons for Firefox? Also, what version of FF should I install?

Version - the latest if you can. If not then whichever the last version to support XP was.
Add-ons - I haven't used most in awhile but these are the ones I usually use. adblock, no script, web of trust (wot)

The latest non-beta makes sense. Last version I used was 3.6 & 4.0 was beta. lol Looks like ver 8.0.1 is the latest version. wow
I remember adblock & the other two sound like good add-ons too. Thanks!

Yeah the Mozilla guys have an abbreviated update process. They push out a new version every couple of months. For the most part I think they are minor upgrades, as I haven't seen anything major, but they keep adding to the version number like its something significant.

I looked up WOT & it seems like the search result ranking in the latest Avast. Is that the case?

Probably something similar. If you already have something like safezone then its not really needed.

It's called Avast WebRep and it's based on Avast community input. I got everything finished up today & it's like a different machine. He seems happy with it & he's learned a few things about internet security to pass on to his kids.
Thanks again guys.

Another vote for Adblock Plus and Noscript.
I also use "Pentadactyl", it lets you use Firefox like it's "vi" from Unix/Linux. Quite nice so you can browse mouseless if you choose to.

Didn't like Transformers growing up. I was more into Speed Racer and DBZ.
