    Recommended Security Suite Software

    Hi everyone,

I recently purchased an Acer Aspire netbook for traveling. The machine is great but it came with Mcafee and something along the lines of a 30 day free subscription. I've used Mcafee in the past on other machines and it's a nice package but quite a resource hog. I've also used Symantec and Microsoft Forefront protection - which weren't bad. So basically, I was wondering if anybody had any recommendations of software they like. I was thinking maybe Kaspersky or Trend Micro (I saw Trend Micro on another machine, it was nice).

I'm not doing any real downloading on this machine. Just checking email, watching IT training videos, and searching for other IT related things (i.e. Training centers in my area). Thanks for the recommendations!

I highly recommend Avira. It has a small footprint and has a great malware engine to catch the bad stuff. Avira Free Antivirus - Download Best Antivirus Software

I have been running Microsoft's Security Essentials for a bit now and am impressed.

MSE only gets about an 85% or so detection rate but many people including myself like it because it works and doesn't bug you about anything.

Back up the claim that AVG is "stronger."
