| Quote: | Junkmail and telemarketing is mostly a waste of time and resources. About 62 million trees and 25 billion gallons of water are used to produce a typical year's worth of junk mail in the United States. Worst of all, it puts you at greater risk for identity theft because each pre-approved credit offer that's sent to you is another invitation for someone to open a credit line in your name.
Here's how you slow the flow of junkmail and telemarketers: | The Hard-core Telemarketing Opt-out Script linked within that page makes me want to don a superman outfit.

Neat.
We get telemarketers calling the house phone all day. I may just try out that script and see how it works.. |

You can opt out of telemarketing calls all-together using the FTC DoNotCall list system. I still get one or two rogue telemarketers (though some are permitted under the registry rules) a month, but when the Dad signed up he went from several calls per day to a couple per month. |

Hey, Thanks SJ.
I thought I did that last year, but we still get at least 2-5 calls a day. I just went through again though, so let's see if the calls quit coming...
(I was starting to run out of witty things to say to them, so it's probably good they quit calling now.) |

Given the huge disliking towards telemarketing I'm surprised it's still a "thriving" business. But I guess that's a fallacy...bankers and lawyers have a bad rep, but I don't see those careers failing these days. |
