www.sygate.com Sygate Personal Firewall.. works great

(psssst, some other people may try to say that zonelabs zonealarm is better.. but they're all crazy!)

My vote is for Sygate Personal Firewall. I like it better than ZA - more control over it.

    IMO, anyway.

    Fellow Members:

I just posted a poll regarding firewalls, as my Sygate Pro freezes with Win2KPro ...

    Anyone else experience this?

Man, You guys sure aren't productive. Maybe you can give some pros and cons to each, sygate and zonealarm. I am also looking into getting somesort of firewall and could use your professional advice.

    thanks

Get a hardware based firewall. One with stateful inspection as well as NAT, and you won't need a software firewall, IMO a good hardware firewall will blow the pants off any software firewall, anyday.

My webserver is behind a Netgear FVS 318, and I also install BlackIce server protection (software firewall), and together they seem to make a wonderful combination.

I do not like Zonealarm, because of the "XP Home" way it does things. Its just too wizardy and intrusive for me. Sygate is not too bad, not as much foofoo as zonealarm.

I have given up on Windows firewalls...I use Smoothwall on my NAT system now...works great.

I used to use Norton Personal Firewall...I couldn't visit half the sites I wanted to with Zone Alarm.
