    Boot sector virus?

When you install a new hard drive, is it normal to get a boot sector virus warning?

I ignored the warning because I figured the new hard drive must have just been trying to write in new info that it wasn't use to or something.

Might want to scan it before you use it for anything

What OS are you planing on using on it?

I think you can boot to a W98 floppy and type fdisk /mbr at the A:> prompt and this will clear out the master boot record.

If the warning is from the BIOS, when setting up the disk, then it is normal - if, on the other hand the disk was simply put in and windows booted as normal, then worry...
but by the sounds of it, all is as it should be..
