Spyware???
Rather new to this board, but definitely need some help. This spyware stuff is driving me crazzzzyyyy. I have adaware and am running the new update now. I put spybot on my computer 2 weeks ago, and then really seemed to start having problems. The kids leave the computer on over night and when I get up in the morning, there are like 37 windows opened up on IE. I have DSL. Also, programs like Precision Time, Date manager and now this Ad Destroying keep installing themselves on my computer. I keep uninstalling them. UGHHHH. I do have Kazaa lite, is this causing all this grief.

You might want to upgrade from the free version of ad-aware if you are having that much trouble. You can purchase ad-aware plus for $26.95. It will block popups and sypware instead of just removing it after the fact. http://www.lavasoft.de/software/adawareplus/

SpyBot

AdAware

Be sure to run the updates for both before you scan!

Good advice from the members above. I also suggest you update your antivirus software to the latest virus definitions (I hope you have antivirus software running), and then run a complete scan on your whole system.
Do you have a (software) firewall installed as well? Such as Zone Alarm or Agnitium?

I think Spybot conciders precision time , date manager and kaszae as spy ware. In the settings you should be able to make exceptions to these programs

As a matter of fact, one of my clients was running those above mentioned programs (Precision Time / Date Manager) and had the same symptoms you're having. Once I removed those two apps (using the Add/Remove w/in Windows, then going back to make sure all traces of the programs, directories, and files were removed) the onslaught of popups stopped. Make sure you have a firewall installed and running, if you don't already (I suggest Zone Alarm: www.zonelabs.com).

also it seems to me when you download pecision time you also get gator. It starts a slow install that downloads more files the next time norton updates.

Indeed, Precision Time and Date Manager are spyware by Gator. So, don't make exceptions of these programs in Spybot's settings.
