"Faulty Patch Leaves IE Open to Attack"
"A fully patched IE system is vulnerable to this"
"In addition to the Qhost Trojan, Manion has seen another Trojan that exploits this vulnerability to steal users' AOL Instant Messenger passwords. There is also an exploit that installs a dialing program that calls out to an overseas toll number, and a fourth tool that installs an old back door program."
Where else can you find ALL of this in ONE package!
For FREE
Say good bye to Infomercials, they couldn't sell a complete package like this!Last edited by vass0922; October 2nd, 2003 at 07:32 PM.

AOSmell users deserve trojans, lol.
On a more serious note.....can you IMAGINE the headache some of the Microsoft guys go to bed with at night? Also having to face the tech press' questions about security....and having to come up with feasable definitions for terms like "trustworthy computing" etc etc.

you are safe until you open ie and visit one of those 'specially crafted' web pages with ie. it should be safe to visit the same page with opera, mozilla or netscape, but not browsers based on ie or presumably not safe with stuff like kazaa's webpage window as this too uses ie. i wonder about media player, hmmmm?

IE's a train-wreck when it comes to security. It's still highly suspicious to me that IE doesn't seem concerned with putting in any sort of pop-up blocking (although every other major browser has).

Yep, I got hit with the Qhost trojan. Nothing you could do because all you had to do was visit a site that had the exploited code.
I now use Mozilla Firebird.

vass, I think you should go and visit the doctor again. Have you gotten the repeat on your prescription?

What, am I like the only person here who uses IE?
Will AVG prevent this virus that you're talking about?

i am sure that every browser has 'security holes.' ie is just so widely used that it is targeted.
btw, which do most of you like better? opera or mozilla?
