    updating Ad-Aware brings trojans!!!!!!!!

I clicked update in Ad-Aware, to get the lastest referance files, and then ran ad-ware, half way thur, a pop-up warning from NAV, saying I had something call A Dummy class trojan, then another, and another, and one that said trojan byte verify, A class something.

I submitted one to SARC ( that's all they allowed per day I think )

    Reference file 01R226 19 10 2003

I went to ad-aware help and found I was not alone

anyone esle and anyone with some help, no time for more research, I've got to go to work

    Thanx GK

Scary stuff. I updated a little over a week ago, and all seems fine. Please keep us posted.

I updated mine yesterday, everything's fine though. Although I have had a few attacks yesterday and today but norton firewall stopped them saying it was someone trying to access my computer, all of them with trojans. Maybe these attacks have nothing to do with this it just popped up in my mind. But yes indeed scary stuff.

right after I updated the reference file I ran AD-AWARE and the norton virus warning started poping up during the scan!!

did you click the link and see that I was not the only one??

I'm behind a router and running zone alarm!!!!!

The link you posted above seems to have a good answer presently.

    Cheers!

True beemer, but i was lookng for something, what i don't know.

also I wanted everyone else to be aware of this

maybe I should be glad my machines are clean and move on, but you know so many of us recomend and use ad-aware here at techimo, could there be more to this? or not?

ok, it freaked me out a little

Anyone else?? or is it just me.......

If you read IAMSKINZ reply you shouldn't have any worries left. He explained that Norton didn't see the infected file until Adaware placed it into cache.

Your concern should be with an anti virus program that doesn't seem to be doing its job when a "free" downloaded program, (Adaware) picked up the slack.

    Cheers!

The infection was already on your computer. Adaware had nothing to do with placing the infected file on your computer.

    Cheers!

Up-dated my ad-aware late Wed or early Thur. No problems. I run
PC-cillin 2003 with firewall. Security set highest. Cleand out log files after scanning. Huge list of attempts but they're not getting through.
