Western Digital 200 gig drive
I have a wd2000jbrtl 200gig u100 8meg udma/100 harddrive, a ata tx2 controller card came with it. I have a asus p4c800 deluxe mobo, i updated the bios yesterday. My problem is that it isnt being detected in the bios when i use the controller card or when I take it off the card and take the card out. I hooked it up to the pri_raid, and the pri_ide slot and both times will not be detected. I was wondering if I could just put in on as a slave drive and will be detected. I havent tried it with the new bios, but, I would like to know if it will be detected as a slave drive, it has been formatted to it's 186 gig's. I think I left windows 98 on it. But since I have winxp, I can just put in the winxp disc and start it up and just delete the primary partition on it right?
Other then that How else could i get the controller card or the harddrive detected. I was thinking maybe the harddrive died on me, but until I can get it detected I cant be sure.
This my first time with a high capacity drive like this, and first time with western digital, so far im not impressed. I have had maxtor for 2 years a 80 gig, and hasn't failed me yet, even with all the abus i put on it. That shows me alot about the company.
Any help you can give me, would be nice and grateful.

Check the jumpers. By default, it should be set to a single drive. If it's a Master or Slave to another drive, you will need to change the jumpers.
Your controller card will have to have the drivers intalled in order to see it in Windows I do believe. I've never used one w/ a card, but that just makes sense to me.This signature intentionally left blank.

You could try putting it on as Slave. You can partition/format from within XP.
Just because you formatted should not have effected wether or not it was seen in the BIOS.This signature intentionally left blank.

Microsoft still has an uphill battle. A lot of damage has already been done, and it will take them a while to repair the damage. The Xbox One release may end up being just as bad as the PS3 release,...
