Sony DVD writer firmware flashing problem

I recently purchased a Sony DRU-530A which has a burn speed for DVD-R of 2X but with a firmware update will burn at 4X. My burner has firmware version 1.0c and I want to update it to 2.0a but when I use Sony's firmware updater program, it repeatedly says I need to restart my computer before I can update the firmware. I have tried in safemode, but with the same results. I believe I have uninstalled all the programs which Sony recommended I uninstall before updating the firmware. Any ideas what I might be missing would be greatly appreciated! I am using Windows XP Pro with SP1 installed, have Nero Version 6.0 Ultra and Fireburner installed.

I recommend checking out www.cdfreaks.com They have lots of info on DVD and CD burners and a great forum too.

I looked there, but didn't see anyone having similar issues. I guess I'll have to post there and see if I have any better luck finding someone with a similar problem or maybe possible solutions.........

Do you have another drive on the same cable. I never flash firmware without unplugging the other drive.
