Installing correct RAID driver with a soyo board....

I also have another ? if anyone wants to take a shot at it. For some reason or another my floppy doesn't work and my RAID is onboard, therefore I need a floppy to install it in XP when you install, which I obviously can't do without a floppy (I think?). Right now XP thinks they are some SCSI array and I can still access the info on it and everything but I would like to use the propper drivers for it.
Everytime I uninstall the SCSI driver I have to reboot and then it just reinstalls it.
If I try to update it with the corect one it doens't think its right for the device (thinks it's SCSI)
Any insight is welcome
Thanks

Can you tell us which Soyo board?

Sounds like you need to spend $10 on a new floppy drive.

floppy controller on the motherboard could be dead

dont some raid controllers show up as scsi devices anyway??

------

whitehawk..RAID means "Redundant Array of Inexpenive Disks"..it is a method of using several hard drives in grouped together various ways to achieve certain goals. http://www.acnc.com/raid.html

The two most popular ways for home users are "RAID 1" and RAID 0"

RAID 1 is where you have two hard drives "mirroring" each other exactly...so that if one drive dies..you still have the data etc on the other drive

RAID 0 is when you take two or more drives and then you "stripe" the data...in other words if you are writing 500meg of data...250 meg of data is written to each drive at the same time..so it is faster. Of course if you lose one drive you lose all the data so RAID 0 isnt used for important data...it is used more for speed, like for gamers etc
