| Which is first SATA or IDE?
I just built a new computer and I got a new SATA HD for it. Now I that I have windows on the new HD I wanted to stick in my old HD and transfer some stuff from it. But I was wondering when I stick in the IDE drive which will boot first? They both have windows on them. I checked in BIOS to see, but the olny option it had was just Hard Drive as a boot option no IDE-0 or anything. So which will boot first the IDE or SATA? |

you set the boot order in your bios, whichever one is set to first will boot first

Yes I know that... But the only option it has for Hard Drives is one called "Hard Drive" it doesn't let me select which hard drive, or ide channel. |

In your bios setting there will be something that lets you select the hard disk you want to be set as your boot hard disk. It will probably not be in the same screen as the boot menu is. |

Wow, I am now convinced to *never* buy a Chaintech mobo. If the quality of their manual is any indication, I'd rather not see what problems will actually crop up with their motherboards.
I went to their site, d/led the manual, having never heard of a BIOS that only had a "hard drive" option. It's set up as : HDD0, HDD1, 2, 3 etc. Try highlighting the "hard drive" option and pressing buttons. There should be something at the bottom of the page listing the command buttons for your BIOS. Use this to see if you can change the "hard drive" selection to HDD1, 2, etc or something identifiable as such. But honestly, I've never seen a mobo manual with basically no in depth information about the frickin board. I hope the physical manual you got is better and the online manual is not an indication of their quality.
Also, try getting into different areas of your BIOS, maybe more information you're not seeing |
