I'm not familiar with this chipset, but I might suspect that you have SCSI miniport drivers installed for the ATA controller. This would make the drive appear as a SCSI device, when it is not.
Windows is not properly identifying the device. This may or may not have anything to do with the drivers. Can you see the device in another tool, such as Aida32 or your burning software? |

1st SATA drive: Maxtor 6Y120M0
2nd SATA drive: Maxtor 6Y160M0
1st PATA drive: Maxtor 6Y120L0
2nd PATA drive: Maxtor 6Y040L0
OS: Windows XP Pro SP2 (installed on 1st SATA)
MB: Intel 865PERL
CPU: 3GHz
RAM: 2GB
BIOS: Intel Corp. RL86510A.86A.0085.P19.0406281350, 6/28/2004
Device is visible in Ahead Nero 6. I never installed or had any SCSI device and neither did anything related to SCSI in BIOS.

The problem wasn't there when I installed 1st SATA. It came after the 2nd. Furthermore, it got all valid behaviors like regular cdrom except the eject as the drive do not exist. |

I suspect that it is not being properly detected in the bios. Go into the bios setup and see if it sees the drive properly.
