wont let me boot sata drive without IDE drive

I've got a problem and was wonderinf if someone could help me, yesterday I installed windows xp on my new 200gb seagate sata drive, transfered my files and settings to it from my old IDE drive, no problem. Restart the computer and I pick the os I want and it boots into my sata drive... now I went and removed my old IDE drive from the computer, it wont let me boot, i just get an error, has anyone come across this before? if so pleassee help

did you change the bios settings correctly?

my bios allows me to select first Boot Drive.
if your IDE is selected as first boot drive, and it isnt there,your system wont boot.
check the bios that allows you to change 'boot sequence' and make sure your Sata is 1st boot drive.

in the bios all it says is hard drive for booting, of course on board sata is enabled.
you cant select specific drives for booting, but it will boot with ide drive in even though it isnt the boot disk. have a look a this responce that i still cant figure. http://forum.abit-usa.com/showthread...774#post486774

the only thing i can think of then is disconnecting your IDE drive and reinstalling XP from the CD onto your SATA, you're files and settings will all still be in tact.
Im sure there's an easier way like editing the windows boot file (it sounds like its still looking for your IDE) but im not sure how to do this

seems so, so i've just done that, re-installed windows again and thrown my old 80gb hd out the window, bah. Anyway thanks for the help
