SATA Self-Ejects: how come?

Fellow Members:

I'm using a 160 GB SATA Maxtor 6Y160MO SCSI on a Asus A7N8X-E Deluxe mobo (XP3200 CPU & 1.5 GB 400 Mhz DDR). Runs very nice (Win2KPro).

Every once in a blue moon the SATA "ejects/disconnects" on its own. A friendly Window pops up to warn me that ejecting/disconnecting w/o using the Hardware Wizard can result in lost data.

Any idea why the SATA misbehaves like this out of the blue?

Make sure that you have a good SATA cable and that your connection to your SATA drive is secure.

do you have removable sata drives or are they internal drives?

Also check that you have the latest drivers.

Look in your system logs to see if there are any errors occuring.
