    Mapping External Drive?

    Hi,

    I have an external LaCie harddrive connected via firewire to my Mac Powerbook. I'm wondering if there's a way I can map it as a network drive so I can access it from my PC over the network. Anyone done something like this?

    Thanks

    Share it on the PC it's connected to, then just map it on the PC you want to connect from.

    IE:
    If you have it connected to a PC named PC123 and share it as Lacie, just map \\PC123\Lacie on whatever PC you want.

    Unfortunately, it's not connected to a PC, it's connected to a Mac. I could connect it to the PC instead...but then I'd need to buy a firewire card for my PC. I'm sure there's a way to go the other way.

    Never used a Mac before, but I would assume the mechanics are the same. Share it on the Mac and map it on the PC with \\{machine_name}\{share_name}

    little more in deepth, but good

    search around that site, tons of mac tips.

    hopefully 10.4 will make windows sharing easier than it is today.

    FYI: to get to a windows share if you didnt know in Finder hit the Go menu -> connect and type smb://windowscomputername/sharename

    Aha! That wasn't the solution, but I managed to find it on that machints site. Thanks!

    For anyone who stumbles on this, this guy worded my question much better, and the solution is here: http://forums.macosxhints.com/showth...+mounted+drive
