How is your friend burning the DVDRs? Are they + or -? Is he using UDF or ISO? What is your OS?

Also try burning slower. I had a DVD-ROM that could read +R disks, but it had trouble reading the ones I burned at 8x.

It would be helpful to know what model DVD-ROM you have and what model DVD burner and software your friend is using to burn.

Is there so much data you can't fit onto a CD-R?

its wierd cuz it read a DVD burned by the same friend on the same disk at the same speed... he transfered some of my vacation vids on to DVD and they work... its just the data DVDs dont work...

and yes... the data wont fit on a CDR... its a film we had to watch for marketing.. and notes and stuff...

Are you sure he is not using a packet writing program, such as InCD, Drag to disc or Sonic DLA?
