i have an older LG DVD-ROM and it wont read DVDRs... my friend burned me a whole bunch of stuff for school and i need it to study for exams and my rom wont read the disk...
i tried a firmware upgrade but it didnt help.. is there anything else i could try?

How is your friend burning the DVDRs? Are they + or -? Is he using UDF or ISO? What is your OS? |

with a DVD Burner... It is a DVD+R and its just a data DVD
XP Pro is the OS |

Check with nero infotool that your dvd-rom can read dvd+r. |

Also try burning slower. I had a DVD-ROM that could read +R disks, but it had trouble reading the ones I burned at 8x. |

It would be helpful to know what model DVD-ROM you have and what model DVD burner and software your friend is using to burn.
Is there so much data you can't fit onto a CD-R? |

and yes... the data wont fit on a CDR... its a film we had to watch for marketing.. and notes and stuff... |

the burner is a Lite ON 1673S |

Are you sure he is not using a packet writing program, such as InCD, Drag to disc or Sonic DLA? |
